Korean Official: Cryptocurrency Exchange Ban ‘Not Finalized’

South Korea’s Presidential Office said today that a plan to ban trading cryptocurrencies via exchanges in the nation is still not set in stone. The office spoke out after news reports indicated Wednesday that the South Korean Justice Department is planning legislation that would pave the way for exchanges in the country to be shut down to largely halt cryptocurrency trading. Reuters reported soon after that the Justice Ministry had said that a bill was forthcoming. Japan’s Fisco Launching $2.66 Million Cryptocurrency Fund

Japanese investment research firm and bitcoin exchange operator Fisco has announced that it will launch a cryptocurrency fund. Coming after the firm issued a bitcoin bond last year, the new crypto fund will invest more than 300 million yen ($2.66 million) in bitcoin and other digital currencies, according to Nikkei. The report adds that the fund – which could be launched this month – is being claimed as the first of its kind in Japan.
